The Secretary of State’s office reports that eight South Dakota counties that utilize electronic pollbooks have experienced sporadic loss of connectivity today which has caused delays in voting.
The affected counties include Brookings, Brown, Hughes, Hyde, Pennington, Potter, Sully and Yankton.
Some of the counties switched to paper voter registration lists and pollbooks. Others resolved the issues with the electronic pollbook vendor.
According to a press release from the Secretary of State’s office the delays in voting in Pennington and Hughes Counties will require a few polling places to remain open longer this evening in accordance with statute.
Pennington and Hughes Counties are determining which polling places will have extended hours. That information will be released soon.
