Teacher Compensation Board Meets in Pierre

The South Dakota Teacher Compensation Board met last week and came up with some direction on teacher pay for the 2019 legislature.

Board Chairman, Senator Jim Bolin of Canton, says the board was set up in the law enacting the half cent sales tax increase.

Bolin says any future increases in teacher pay will depend on the rise in tax revenues.

Bolin says a lot could change in the next few years.

Bolin says the group decided to not issue specific targets for future increases in teacher pay.
