Taco John’s Requests Vacation of Alley, Planning New Building at Same Location

The Huron City Commission meets in regular session tonight after having last Monday off in observance of the Native American Day holiday.

Commissioners will consider an alley vacation petition filed by Pentex Restaurant Group and Deeann Lovett. Pentex Restaurant Group owns the Taco John’s location in Huron.

The DOT will take six feet of right way on Taco John’s property for an expansion project on Dakota Avenue North.

Taco Johns is negotiating with the DOT over plans to raze their existing store and rebuild a new store on the same lots. Since the six feet of land being taken affects the flow of traffic the building has to be re-orientated so that ingress and egress flows north and south.

The request is being made because the new store drive thru, parking and internal circulation routes will be located where the is alley currently.

Taco Johns has an agreement to purchase the property located to the north of the store contingent upon approval of the alley vacation.

Also tonight, commissioners will consider renewal of E911 Contract with Hand County
