State Senator Billie Sutton, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for governor in 2018, made a stop in Huron yesterday as he travels across the state to drum up support for his campaign.
Sutton spoke at the District 22 Democratic Forum. He says unity is a central theme of his campaign.
Combating corruption in state government is one of the reasons Sutton cites for deciding to run.
Seeking the governors office in a heavily Republican state may seem like an uphill fight but Sutton says he is confident he can win over voters in both major parties.
Sutton is from Burke. In 2010, he was elected to the state senate from District 21 and currently serves as Senate minority leader.
