A total of 20 students from Iroquois, Huron, Wolsey-Wessington and James Valley high schools explored healthcare careers at HRMC Healthcare Career Academy on November 21-22 at the hospital. Students experienced hands-on activities in a variety of careers to help them decide if a career in the high-demand field of healthcare would be a fit for them.
As a special feature this year, participants experienced Southeast Technical Institute’s nursing simulation truck as part of Southeast Tech’s announcement to provide a local LPN-RN degree program beginning in Fall 2018.
Information about HRMC’s Healthcare Career Academy, which is open to high school students grade 10-12, is available online at https://huronregional.org/about-us/join-our-team/exploring-careers.
