South Dakota pork leaders are excited about Governor Dennis Daugaard’s commitment to helping them put in a new state of the art swine unit at South Dakota State University. South Dakota Pork President Andrew Arhart of Alpena says the Governor proposed in his recent budget message that the state kick in half of the $ 7 million needed for the facility.
Arhart says that once the Swine Unit is fully funded and completed it will place South Dakota in a place of leadership for the entire region for education in the pork industry.
Arhart says with the Governor’s leadership on this issue he’s hopeful they’ll be able to convince lawmakers to fund the project.
