The South Dakota State Fair will be implementing electronic scanning at the fairground gates this year.
It is a feature offered by a vendor the fair has worked with for online ticket sales.
Assistant state fair manager Candi Briley says this will make it quicker for fairgoers to get on to the fairgrounds and start enjoying themselves.
Anyone with a parking pass will also be affected by the change.
Briley says electronic scanning also allows the fair to offer daily admission online for the first time.
Briley says the change will make the process at the gates more efficient and improve safety on the fairgrounds.
