HURON, S.D.— South Dakota State Fair Manager Jerome Hertel announced Friday that Little River Band will perform with Cheap Trick on Sunday, Sept. 4, at the State Fair Grandstand in Huron.
Little River Band is considered to be one of Australia’s most significant bands, and has worldwide album and CD sales that top 30 million. The group also set a record for having Top 10 hits for six consecutive years, being the first band to ever achieve that mark. The Little River Band was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards in 2004.
Little River Band hits include “Lonesome Loser,” “Help is on its Way,” “Night Owls,” “Take it Easy on Me,” and “Lady.” Opening for Cheap Trick and the Little River Band will be South Dakota’s own Kory and the Fireflies.
The South Dakota State Fair also has arranged for Country music artists Love and Theft to play a free show on the NorthWestern Energy Freedom Stage on Saturday, Sept. 3. Love and Theft’s hits include Top-10 single “Runaway” and “Dancing in Circles.”
The South Dakota State Fair announced earlier that Don Williams will play at the Grandstand on Friday, Sept. 2. Cheap Trick will headline on Sunday, Sept. 4. An announcement on the headliner for Saturday, Sept. 3 will be made in the near future.
Prices for the Grandstand entertainment have yet to be determined. Grandstand tickets will go on sale June 20. Friends of the Fair will have the opportunity to buy tickets on June 16. For more information on becoming a Friend of the Fair, visit www.sdstatefair.com
