State Chamber President Says Corporate Tax Changes May Have Little Effect in SD

The tax reform bill making its ways through Congress is focused on cutting taxes for businesses, with the aim that those benefits will pass through to workers.

Dave Owen, President of the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says changes intended for corporations may not have the same impact here

Senator John Thune has said the tax bill will result in twenty-seven hundred new jobs in the state. Owen says most of his members have many open jobs now

Owen says companies that see tax savings will probably pass some of that to their employees

Both Thune and Congresswoman Kristi Noem have been named to the House – Senate tax conference committee.
