Stand-Off In Woonsocket Ends Peacefully

A five-hour armed-standoff in Woonsocket ended peacefully early Monday morning.  Sanborn County Sheriff Tom Fridley says it began around 9:00 pm Sunday……

He thinks the cause was probably a combination of arguments and unemployment that got out of hand……

Fridley says officers evacuated surrounding homes until the situation was resolved……

Officers found multiple weapons in the house.  No one was hurt.  The Sanborn and Jerauld County Sheriff’s Offices, the Mitchell and Huron Emergency Response Units, South Dakota Highway Patrol and South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation participated in the operation.
