South Dakota Corn Executive Pleased With 2018 Farm Bill

South Dakota Corn Grower Association members are pleased with passage this week of the 2018 farm bill. Corn Growers Executive Director Lisa Richardson says Senator John Thune’s suggestion that there be flexibility in opting into either the ARC or PLC programs rather than being tied to one of those for five years is a good addition.

She says keeping crop insurance was a huge victory.

Richardson says they are happy with an increase in conservation reserve program acres.

Richardson says as farmers make their preparations for 2019 they know they have a five-year commitment from the federal government with this farm bill.
