RAPID CITY, SD – Homecoming ceremonies are scheduled Friday for the 113 soldiers with the South Dakota Army National Guard’s 211th Engineer Company who are returning from a year of duty in Afghanistan. The troops arrived in Wisconsin on Monday and reported to Fort McCoy for demobilization. The Guard says a homecoming ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Dakota State Field House in Madison. There also will be a community gathering for the unit’s detachment in De Smet at 2 p.m. in the high school armory. The soldiers conducted combat engineer missions in Afghanistan, such as clearing roadside bombs.
