Smear Campaign Theated Against Lawmaker Gibson

Last week a group called Dakota Gun Owners threatened State Representatives Peggy Gibson of Huron and Gene Abdallah of Sioux Falls with a smear campaign after they voted against a measure to eliminate the need for law abiding citizens to get a permit to carry a concealed gun.  State Senator Mike Vehle of Mitchell says it’s happened before…..

He says actions like that prompt him to take a closer look at any legislation the group may propose.  State Representative Lance Carson believes this type of behavior happens more often than most people realize….

The measure in question failed by a vote of 7-5 in a House committee.
