The final Severe Weather Awareness and Storm Spotter training presented by National Weather Service is tonight in Huron.   Meteorologist Todd Heitkamp gave a similar presentation in Mitchell April 20th……

He’ll set the tone for the evening with examples from last years deadly storms….

Heitkamp says we’re coming off one of the worst tornado seasons in U.S. history as over 550 people died in the storms.  He’s frustrated with the public’s response….

Heitkamp will review the mechanics of severe weather, things to look for, how to stay safe, and left the Mitchell group with what he hopes is a life-saving piece of advice….

The training is being held in the large courtroom on the third floor of the Beadle County Courthouse.  It begins at 7 pm and is free to the public to attend.  It should be noted this training is NOT intended for anyone looking to become storm chasers.
