“Senior 101: Transitioning Into Retirement”Offered at Huron Public ibrary

The number of Americans retiring daily has nearly doubled since the year 2000. Currently, roughly 10,000 people turn 65 each day, the standard age for retirement. Deciding to retire can be stressful. The Huron Public Library is offering a series of four classes to help Baby Boomers in the decision making process. Senior 101: Transitioning into Retirement is being offered free to the public during October and November.

Session 1 – Real Estate & Downsizing (Tuesday, October 1, 6 p.m.). Angie Uttech, Broker/Owner Ace Realty will present Stay or Go. Attendees will learn some valuable tips on how to decide if NOW is the time to downsize your home as you prepare for the golden years.

Session 2 – Social Security & Medicare (Tuesday, October 15, 6 p.m.). Julie Wetzel from the Social Security Administration will show how to establish a “My Social Security” account, how to file for Medicare and retirement benefits, what online services are available, and Medicare enrollment periods.

Session 3 – Travel & Leisure (Tuesday, October 29, 6 p.m.). Tasha Stahl and Erica Woodbury from Pack & Play Travel Agency will assist retirees in exciting new adventures. They will show you how to create the ultimate bucket list and discover the best ways to accomplish your travel dreams and spending memorable time with family and friends.

Session 4 – Finances (Tuesday, November 5, 6 p.m.). Levi Kary from American Bank & Trust will discuss how to determine your post-retirement financial needs, maintain your current lifestyle and leave behind a financial legacy for your loved ones.
