Second Man Pleads Guilty To Wessington Springs ATM Theft And Sex Crime

A second person has pleaded guilty in Federal Court to stealing an ATM machine from a Wessington Springs convenience store in December of 2009. Twenty-one year-old Kelly McGhee, Jr. of Fort Thompson, pleaded guilty to an indictment charging him with Bank Burglary for stealing the cash machine, which was owned by a federally insured bank on Monday. Kalup McGhee of Pukwana pleaded guilty to the ATM theft two weeks ago. He will be sentenced July 18th. It’s not known at this time if the McGhee’s have any relation. Kelly McGhee also pleaded guilty to a second indictment charging him with sexual abuse of a minor. McGhee admitted to engaging in a sexual act with a child under the age of 16 in Buffalo County in September of 2009, two months before he assisted in stealing the ATM which officials say had around seven-thousand dollars in cash inside at the time. Kelly McGhee faces maximum penalties of 20 years in prison for the ATM theft and 15 years on the sexual abuse charge. Both crimes have a maximum fine of up to 250-thousand dollars. Kelly McGhee will be sentenced on both charges July 21th.
