SD Transportation Secretary Says No Quick Fix For State’s Infrastructure Issues

Counties across South Dakota are all struggling with increasing road repair costs, and the lack of a stable funding source.

Transportation Department Secretary Darin Bergquist says the legislature has made some changes in the past few years.

Bergquist says one fund was set up specifically to help with county bridge projects.

Bergquist says he doesn’t see any easy or quick solutions.

Bergquist doesn’t hold out much hope with a national infrastructure plan pushed by President Trump. He says most of those dollars would have to have a state or local match.
