The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission took action to revoke the grain buyers license of H&I Grain, who had locations in DeSmet, Arlington, and Hetland. The PUC suspended that license in late June when H&I could not pay for grain delivered to their elevators.
During the hearing Friday in Pierre, Attorney Todd Wilkinson of DeSmet asked the commission to order the bond revoked instead of leaving claims to individuals
PUC Staff Attorney Kristen Edwards says they will lay out a claim process
PUC Chair Kristie Fiegen made the motion to revoke the license
The Commission ordered the bond proceeds to be distributed, but not to seek receivership for the grain company, and will decide on that at a later meeting.
