SD Prep Media Football Poll Releases First Rankings

Media members from across the state have joined forces to create South Dakota’s most complete high school sports rankings each week.

More than 25 of the state’s radio and television broadcasters, along representatives from each of the state’s daily newspapers will vote each week on the top teams in the state. Members of the voting panel are from communities all across the state, giving the weekly rankings an important and definitive statewide perspective.

The new rankings debut this week with the top-five teams in each of the state’s seven classes of high school football. Updated polls will be announced each Monday afternoon during the regular season. A similar poll is planned for the volleyball season, as well.

The preseason edition of the inaugural South Dakota Prep Media football poll is listed below, with the top-five teams in each class ranked by points received, along with the teams receiving votes. First-place votes received are indicated in parentheses.
