SD man sentenced for pulling shotgun on trooper

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) – A man who pointed an unloaded shotgun at a South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper has been sentenced to serve 10 years in prison.  Forty-six-year-old Randall Jungwirth, of Athol, earlier had pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of a law officer. In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors dropped a felony drunken driving charge.  Jungwirth must serve at least half of his sentence before being eligible for parole.  Authorities say Jungwirth pulled a shotgun on a trooper who was trying to administer a field sobriety test last Nov. 6  and squeezed the trigger twice before fleeing when the officer took cover behind his vehicle. Jungwirth was found hiding in an abandoned mobile home near Ashton the next day.
