South Dakota Farm Bureau President Scott VanderWal was among the Farm Bureau officials that met with President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence at the White House.
He told them about the impacts the tariffs are having on America’s farmers and ranchers and the need for engaging in trade agreements.
VanderWal says the President expressed his support for farmers and ranchers and says he’s trying to make things better for them.
He told the President and Vice President that the impacts of the tariffs are being felt deeply in farm country.
VanderWal says he questioned the leaders about the timeline for resolving the trade dispute with China.
VanderWal says also attending the meeting was Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue and Chief Agricultural Trade Negotiator Greg Doud.
