SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – Two Fort Thompson men have been sentenced to prison for second-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter. U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson has announced that 22-year-old Alphonso Drapeau, III, has been sentenced to 17 1/2 years in prison and five years of supervised release after pleading guilty to a second-degree murder charge. His brother, 20-year-old Gavin Drapeau, pleaded guilty to a charge of voluntary manslaughter. He was sentenced to four years and 9 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Both men were ordered to pay nearly $120,000 in restitution. Prosecutors say the two men struck the victim in the head and face before repeatedly stomping on the victim’s head. The victim was pronounced dead several days later.
