South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley will be in front of the Joint Appropriations Committee of the Legislature today to answer questions about his department’s budget.
He says he can defend their spending plan
Some legislators were concerned that drug treatment programs could be cut as part of closing the budget gap. Jackley says some of their programs are self funded
Jackley says he wants to protect funding for drug courts, and other diversion programs
Jackley says it saves money to divert people away from the criminal justice system, if possible.
