School Board Votes To Keep Salaries For School Board

The Huron School Board votes Monday night to set their salaries at 70 dollars per meeting. State law says School Board members may make up to 75-dollars per meeting. The Board Chair and Vice Chair already receive 75-dollars per meeting. Board Chair Tim Van Berkum says the item was moved from the Consent Agenda Monday night to New Business, so resident and former School Board Candidate Brian Hines could comment on the issue. Hines says he researched board compensation online and says 75 and half percent of school boards the size of Huron take no salary…

The Huron School Board voted four to one to keep Board members salaries in place with Bennett casting the lone no vote.
