The Huron City Commission has tonight off for the Native American Day holiday, however the Huron School Board of Education is moving it’s regular bi-weekly meeting to Tuesday night at the Instructional Planning Center at the Huron Arena. The School Board will announce days to remember then allow for community input. The Board will consider bills, new hires, contracts resignations and more on the consent agenda and will hear about successes in the District. A number of thank you’s will also be made. School Board members will hear reports on the Washington 4th/5th grade center, Destination Imagination, and from the Business Manager. Superintendent Terry Nebelsick will give his report to the Huron School Board, focusing on the Associated School Boards of South Dakota’s regional meeting, and update on the Blue Ribbon Task Force and a report on crisis and emergency response procedures. He will also introduce the next policy section for review.. There is no old business for consideration. New business will include a request for an indoor marching band exhibition to act as a fund raising event. The Board will select a district representative for the ASBSD assembly and select a Legislative Action Network representative. The board will consider three items related to Jefferson Elementary School, including declaring the building as surplus property and setting a surplus auction date. The Huron School Board will meet tomorrow at 5:30 PM at Instructional Planning Center at the Huron Arena. The Center is located on west side of the Arena on the buildings second floor. The meeting is open to the public.
