The three candidates looking to gain or keep spots on the Huron School Board took questions from a slightly smaller audience of people compared to the candidates for Huron City Commission and Mayor during a four-part election forum held Saturday in Huron. Out of the box, candidates were asked where they stood on the upcoming school bond issue, which will not only fund improvements to the Huron School District’s elementary schools, but will be decided at the same time as their future as a possible school board member on April 9th. Michelle Bennett is looking to keep her current spot as a school board member. She says enrollment is growing, and that’s a good thing…
Garrett Bischoff also is in favor of the bond issue, he also happens to be chairman of the group supporting it’s passage…
Sherman Gose says the timing couldn’t be better to take advantage of…
The candidates also fielded questions on school security, open enrollment and fiscal responsibility within the district. The school board candidates will meet for a question and answer session next Saturday March 30th at the Aroma Coffee Cafe in downtown Huron, in an event sponsored by the Huron Young Professionals group.
