Former governor and current Republican Candidate for the U-S Senate Mike Rounds will be making an appearance in Huron next month. Rounds will speak about his vision for the future of South Dakota and the county during the Beadle County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner on April 16th. Also speaking at the Lincoln Day Dinner will be South Dakota G-O-P Chairman Craig Lawrence. Political analysts have said the South Dakota race for Senate in 2014 may be one of the most watched in the nation, as Democrats attempt to hold on to the seat currently held by Tim Johnson. Johnson has not made a decision on whether to seek another term in office. Some believe Johnson may retire. Democratic circles say Johnson’s son Brendan, the current U-S Attorney for South Dakota or former Representative Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin would be leading candidates to fill Tim Johnson’s shoes. Beadle County Republican Chairman Joshua Haeder says tickets are selling fast for the chance to hear Rounds. Tickets are 25-dollars for adults and 15 for students. The event begins with a social at 5:30 PM and dinner at 6:30.
