PIERRE, SD – State officials say it’s uncertain whether the Rosehill Dam in Hand County will be replaced or rebuilt after it gave way in a summer downpour. Cliff Stone in the state Department of Game, Fish and Parks says money is the first issue. Replacement costs are put at more than $1 million.
Stone says one option is to get federal disaster funds that would cover 75 percent of the costs. The earthen dam at Rosehill Lake west of Huron gave way on July 29.
