Refugee Bill Passes US House

The US House passed the SAFE Act of 2015. Voting was largely along party lines with 47 Democratic members joining the Republicans to pass the bill 242 to 183. The bill requires that supplemental certifications and background investigations be completed prior to the admission of certain aliens as refugees, and for other purposes. The bill will now go to the Senate for a vote. President Obama says that the vetting system in place is adequate. The President has promised to veto the bill if it makes it to his desk.
