PUC Seeks Receivership of Kingsbury County Grain Company

The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission moved to take bankrupt H & I Grain Company of Hetland into receivership.

The PUC ordered the company closed last year after it could no longer pay for grain it was storing.

Commissioner Chris Nelson offered an amended motion at their meeting Tuesday.

Nelson says the PUC would be only a pass through for the grain company.

Nelson says the PUC doesn’t have the resources to maintain a receivership.

Nelson says the creditors can in turn sue CHS Hedging in an attempt to recover the lost money. Losses are estimated at between four and six million dollars.
