Project Stand Up Shows Early Signs of Success

The September arrests of two Sioux City Iowa residents in Pierre are showing the benefits of a new texting tip line. Attorney General Marty Jackley says Project Stand Up is giving law enforcement across the state good leads on drug activity…

Project Stand Up is a part of the greater No Meth Ever initiative. Jackley says it’s hard to put a solid number on specifically how many cases have been aided by Project Stand Up …

Jackley intends to take the idea of an anonymous texting tip line to his colleagues across the nation.

The tip received from Project Stand Up was given to the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office on August 9th. It included the name, location, license plate number and activities being observed. That allowed Pierre Police to conduct an investigation that led to the arrests of 35 year-old Karen Monical and 37 year old Brian Picotte on September 15th. The two are facing charges including possession of both marijuana and methamphetamine, ingestion of the two substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and other drug-related charges.
