A 29 state poll that surveyed 14,500 people from June 2 to June 10 shows most favor the Senate’s proposed immigration legislation. South Dakotans were part of that survey with just under 600 participating. Theron McChesney says the poll was commissioned by the Alliance for Citizenship, The New American Economy group and Republicans for Immigration Reform. He says most South Dakotans favor the immigration bill.
McChesney says the poll indicates the South Dakotans who responded consider agriculture an important cog in the economy and the need for immigrant workers in dairies, meat packing plants and the egg laying industry a necessity.
McChesney says the poll had an error rate of plus or minus five percent
