Police Estimate Nearly $80,000 In Damage From Vandalism Spree

Huron PDThey did thousands of dollars in damage, inconvenienced over 100 Huron residents with unplanned trips to glass replacement shops, angered many in the community with their actions, and as of Saturday morning, they are calling the Beadle County Jail, home. Sergeant Casey Spinsby with the Huron Police Department says four male juvenile subjects were arrested in relation to a series of vehicle vandalisms in Huron that lasted nearly two weeks. The foursome, who range in age from 15 to 17 years old, were arrested just after two-A-M Saturday. Spinsby says an officer on patrol, stopped a vehicle that was driving suspiciously in the area of Nicholas Court after it sped around the cul-de-sac. Located in the vehicle was a B-B gun and B-B’s. Also in the car was a cash register that was reported stolen from a local Asian grocery store, that was robbed late Friday night or early Saturday. All four juveniles, are facing charges of burglary, theft, ingestion of a substance for the purpose of intoxication and multiple counts of intentional damage to property. Damage is estimated at 80-thousand dollars. So far police have connected at least 120 cars to the vandalism spree.
