Pierre Business Destroyed in Saturday Evening Fire

The Branding Iron Bistro in Pierre is considered a complete loss after a Saturday evening fire.

Pierre Police Captain Derald Gross, in collaboration with Pierre Assistant Fire Chief Cory Hoffragge, says that the call came in at 8:18 P.M. stating that heavy smoke was coming from the business, located at 420 West Sioux Avenue. Upon arrival of fire crews, the business was fully engulfed in flames. Crews made entry to the business and knocked down the fire at 9:30 P.M.

Branding Iron Bistro Owner Pat Metzinger was on scene, along with building owner Mike Weisgram.

Significant smoke on scene could be seen coming out of the business and the next door business Pottery To Paint. Pierre Police Department has blocked off the entire 400 block of West Sioux Avenue in Pierre for about 45 minutes. Pottery To Paint experienced a significant amount of smoke damage.

The Fire Marshall’s Office has been called to determine a cause of the fire. All the businesses were closed at the time of the fire.
