Permits Approved For Hutterite Colony Near Ashton

Spink CtyABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) – Spink County officials have approved permits clearing the way for the development of a new Hutterite colony southwest of Ashton.

Auditor Theresa Hodges says county commissioners approved placement of a blacksmith shop, a church, a school and a lagoon, as well as the construction of two multi-family housing units.

Hodges says the permits were issued to the Sunrise Hutterian Brethren Inc. She says the members are coming from the Hutterville Colony near Stratford, which has split over a religious dispute.
