The 2012 Parade of Lights creeped through Huron Friday night. The parade rebounded from last year with 40 floats taking part. The 2011 parade saw only nine. The People’s Choice award winner was the Center for Independence with a “Winnie the Poo” themed float. Best Animation when to Dakota Energy and Most Creative to the Backstreet Cruisers, who were towing behind them the tow truck “Mater” from the Disney movie “Cars” Two floats tied in the “Best Portrayal of Theme” category. The Rainbow Flower shop and M-O Federal Credit Union both showed up with Mystery Machines paying homage to the classic cartoon “Scooby Doo” The Theme of this year’s parade was “A Cartoon Christmas” Dakota Provisions won for Best Portrayal of Your Business and the Best Non-profit when to the South Dakota National Guard.
