Organizers Hope to Hit Goal of 40 Floats for Parade of Lights

A holiday tradition, the Huron Parade of Lights is coming up Friday, November 23, at 7 pm.

Kevin Fritzshe has directed the annual event for the past four years. He says the goal of the committee each year is to have 40 floats.

Fritzsche says entries will begin coming in now and will continue right up until parade time.

Floats will be judged in the categories of best lit, best animation, most creative, best portrayal of parade theme, best portrayal of business, and best non-profit organization. The People’s Choice voting will take place on the Huron CVB Facebook page again this year. A highly decorated Christmas Business will also be recognized.

The Parade route will begin at Market Street and proceed down Dakota Avenue, ending at 21st Street.

One lucky household will receive The Griswold Award. The winner gets $25 in Huron Bucks. Nominees for the Griswold Award can be submitted to the Huron Chamber & Visitors Bureau via email at [email protected] or by calling 605-352-0000.
