Online Sales Tax Collection Bill Stuck In Congress

A bill that would streamline the collection of online sales taxes is hung up in Congress, with slim hopes of passage this year.  Shawn Lyons, executive director of the South Dakota Retailers Association was in Washington last week, at the leadership conference of the National Retail Federation.  He says online businesses are not paying their fair share…

Lyons says the State of South Dakota is missing out on about forty million dollars a year in sales taxes that aren’t being collected. He says there are at least two bills that address the issue…
