One Man Gets Prison Time For Alpena Meth Lab Two Have December Trial

An Alpena man has been sentenced in Jerauld County to one year in prison for a methamphetamine lab found in an Alpena home in February. Jason Adam Kerlin pleaded guilty August 27th to two felony charges of Unauthorized manufacture, distribution, counterfeiting or possessing of substances with a high potential for abuse. and Unauthorized possession of a controlled substance. Jerauld County States Attorney Casey Bridgeman says the guilty pleas stem from a meth lab discovered following an investigation by the Jerauld County Sheriff and South Dakota Division of Criminal investigation. Judge David Gienapp sentenced Kerlin on September 22nd to three years of prison on each count to be served concurrently. Two years of each sentence were suspended upon various terms and conditions. Meanwhile in Beadle County, a court hearing for Jacob Kerlin and Tara Jankordt , both from Huron, was held Tuesday in the same matter. DCI agent Josh Bobzien testified that both Jacob Kerlin and Jankords names were on the States pseudoephedrine log and that his investigation revealed sufficient evidence to arrest the two. An informant testified that he gave a bag of meth to a detective and that he got the meth from a man named Jason not Jacob. A joint trial for Kerlin and Jankord is set for December 15th and 16th in Huron.
