One person died early Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash east of Mt. Vernon.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of family members.
A 2018 Nissan Frontier was eastbound on 252nd Street when the male driver failed to negotiate a curve near the intersection with 399th Avenue. The vehicle left the roadway, vaulted off a driveway and eventually rolled in the south ditch of 252nd Street.
The 59-year-old driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. All information pertaining to the crash is preliminary at this time.
