It’s an off day in the re-trial of Ken Huber. The 44-year old Huber is being tried a second time on 1st degree murder and manslaughter charges in relation to the death shooting death of his wife Pam in October of 2007. Jurors worked a half day Friday hearing no evidence, but being bussed to Highmore from Huron to get a first hand look at the master bedroom part of the Huber’s home, where the incident took place. The house, having been sealed since the shooting by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation was opened again for the jurors by a DCI agent. Because of the tight space near the bedroom, jurors were brought in, two at a time, to view that area only. They were informed by Judge James Anderson last Thursday it was not going to be a “tour of the house”. Huber, a former law officer claims his Glock .40 caliber service pistol accidently discharged while moving it, sending a bullet into Pam Huber’s forehead. She died days later in a Sioux Falls hospital. Testimony resumes Tuesday. The trial is expected to last into the week of May 23rd.
