The weather outside of Huron’s Splash Central isn’t exactly screaming swim today, but the excitement surrounding the 12-and a half million dollar water park on the former Huron University Campus couldn’t be drowned out, even by cool gusty winds. Former Huron Mayor Dave McGirr emceed the ribbon cutting. It was McGirr, who literally had the idea for Splash Central come to him in a dream. Time capsules from the four main buildings that made up the Huron University campus were opened just before lunch time. A Facebook contest to award the first ride on the parks signature Master Blaster water coaster ride went Hunter Lipinsky of Watertown. Lipinsky could not make the ride due to work obligations. She gave the ride to a friend from Huron.
