A powerful thunderstorm ripped through the area Saturday evening causing a large power outage and other damage. Peak wind gusts of 76 mph were recorded at the Huron Municipal Airport. Rainfall totals from the storm ranged from a little over an inch at the airport to 2 inches on the south end of town.
Tom Glanzer with Northwestern Energy says there was extensive wind damage.
He said crews came in from everywhere.
Glanzer was pleased with Northwestern’s response as they were dealing with two major storms hundreds of miles apart.
Glanzer says most customers have had power restored but there are a few isolated outages. If anyone still has issues with their power, they are reminded to call Northwestern at 1-800-245-6977.
