Northwestern Energy Plans to Retire Huron Plant in Favor of Dual Power Generating Station

Northwestern Energy wants to add flexible capacity to its electric generating resources.

Jim Williams, Director of Thermal and Wind Generation for Northwestern says they want more power available more quickly.

Williams says they are asking for outside proposals.

Williams says the new units should be more efficient, with lower operating costs.

Williams says they plan to retire their Huron plant, with its sixty megawatts of power, and replace that with a more efficient, duel power generating station.

Williams says they want ideas submitted to them by the end of March.
