The 2018 session of the South Dakota Legislature probably will not have an opportunity to make changes to the states ag land property tax valuation system.
Representative Lee Qualm of Platte, a member of the interim committee reviewing the property tax system, says they are waiting on a land survey being done by South Dakota State University
Qualm says most counties have made the needed changes to move to the new productivity tax model
Qualm says there were some surprises during the move away from sales based valuations
Qualm says they may be able to make some recommendation in time for the 2019 legislature.
