New Mower, Police Cars Among Items Approved By City Commission Monday

The Huron City Commission made quick work of light agenda Monday night. Commissioners gave approval to the purchase of an 11 foot self-propelled rotary-type mower from James River Equipment. Commissoners also approved a bid by Key Contracting of Fargo, North Dakota to conduction sanitary sewer manhole renovation work. City Engineer Mike Wever says approximately 75 manholes will be renovated under the bid. Also approve was the purchase of two Dodge Charger patrol cars. The cars are being purchased off of the State Bid at Wagner Auto of Pierre as they are the only Dodge dealer in the state with the contract for the state bid on Chargers. A special event alcohol license for the Huron Regional Medical Center’s Go Red for you Heart event was approved along with second reading of the supplemental appropriations ordinance. The Commission also approved hiring Nathan Nielson and approved waiving the five mile residency requirement as Nielson live about seven east of Huron. The Commission also met in executive session for a Personnel Mater before ajourning for the evening.
