Trailers, horses, and contestants are arriving in Huron in advance of the National Junior High Finals Rodeo which begins Sunday on the Grandstand at the State Fairgrounds. Austin White with the High School Rodeo Association based in Denver says over one thousand 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will compete during the week long event, and he says a majority are girls.
White says while the kids are young, they already have a lot of rodeo experience.
While the rodeo is billed as the national finals, it is an international competition.
The rodeo begins Sunday evening and runs through next Saturday.
