A Sioux Falls man has been identified as the person who died Friday morning in a tractor-van crash east of Alexandria.
A Case Versatile 305 tractor, which was pulling a hose trailer used for waste handling work, was westbound on Interstate 90. The vehicle was rear-ended by a westbound 2001 Dodge Caravan.
Johnnie Hines, the 52-year-old driver of the Caravan, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
Further investigation has concluded that the tractor was on the interstate illegally. Charges are pending against Jason Ingram of Kempner, TX, the 31-year-old tractor driver. He was not injured.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
