For the second day this week severe thunderstorms brought welcome rains along with damaging winds to Beadle County and neighboring counties.
This morning, storms produced a wind gust of 83 mph in Huron, prompting officials to sound the tornado sirens. The storm also dropped heavy rains, causing some streets in Huron to flood. At the airport there was 1.17 inches in the rain gauge after the storm passed thru with some listeners reporting over 4 inches.
There were reports of minor property damage, downed tree limbs and downed power lines. Northwestern Energy says around 800 customers were without power in the aftermath of the storm. The storms tracked to the SE impacting Hand, Jerauld, Sanborn and Kingsbury counties.
Severe storms are possible across the area this afternoon, tonight and tomorrow night.
