Several weeks ago the Huron Police Department received reports that counterfeit bills were being circulated at local businesses. HPD detectives were able to make an arrest in connection with these incidents.
Once again. the Huron Police Department is receiving reports of counterfeit $100 bills being passed at local businesses. You’re advised to be careful when accepting any $100 bills at this time. You should even be cautious of accepting these bills from friends and trusted associates as they may have unknowingly come into possession of a counterfeit bill during a transaction.
There are some things to look for that distinguish these counterfeit bills:
- Small red Chinese writing printed on the backside of the bill.
- Counterfeit money detector pens will leave a brown mark.
- If you hold a bill to the light you will not see Benjamin Franklin’s face in the water mark portion.
If you determine the bill is fake call the police immediately (605) 353-8550.
